Flash (SWF) Guide

In response to Google regarding flash animations and Mozilla’s blocking of flash content, we recommend that standard images or HTML5 be used instead of Flash.

Flash Ads can continue to serve on Chrome, but will see significantly reduced click-through-rates because users will need to click once to watch an ad, and click again to click through or interact with it.

The use of Flash across the 3CMG network will be soon depreciated.

Majority of desktop based web ad placements accept flash creative banners, but every flash advert must be accompanied by a backup image advert to serve to users without the required plug-in.

Specifications:

  • The highest recommended frame rate is 18fps – 21fps.
  • Version 10 or earlier versions are accepted
  • Flash ActionScript 2 is preferred, AS3 is accepted.
  • Do not include hard coded URLs (use a clickTAG ActionScript button)

Flash ActionScript 2 for Button Click through:

on (release) {
  if (_root.clickTAG.substr(0,5) == "http:" || _root.clickTAG.substr(0,6) == "https:") {
    getURL(_root.clickTAG, "_blank");
  }
}
